Bobby McFarland is a native of Clayton, North Carolina. He graduated from UNC-Greensboro with
a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. He has performed with and attended master classes of leading trombonists and jazz musicians such as James Miller, Don Lucas, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Seamus Blake, and Wycliffe Gordon, among many others. As a trombonist, Mr. McFarland played with various orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout Central North Carolina and has performed multiple solo recitals.
Previously, Mr. McFarland was the Director of Bands at South Johnston High School in Four Oaks, NC, and taught elementary general music at Falkland Elementary School in Pitt County.
As a Clayton High School graduate, Mr. McFarland carries a great sense of pride in how the performing arts program has developed in recent years and is blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of its continuation. He enjoys playing trombone, studying Baroque performance practice, as well as watching and playing sports and spending time with the people who mean the most to him.
Michael Mattocks grew up in Clayton, North Carolina. He graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a minor in Mathematics. As a trombonist, Mr. Mattocks has performed with several ensembles at UNC-G, including the Wind Ensemble, University Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble I. He also conducted the UNC-G Trombone Ensemble, University Band, and Symphonic Band.
Mr. Mattocks graduated from Clayton High School and is committed to the growth of both the performing arts programs and the community as a whole. He enjoys spending time with family and loved ones near and far.
